I’m sure there are many things that need to be considered before something like this could happen, but like I said, it’s just the begining of an idea. I understand this would be a massive change to the games economy, but that is what we need to do away with JSP. Those who prefer single player would also benefit greatly from this as finding that one high rune you really need for a runeword can be tedious to say the least. Chipped gems, flawed gems, ect would now have more value and could be used by new players to trade for some gear. This would also give new players a fighting chance at trading for some items. A side note…This would require Blizzard to make gems stackable, which would be nice anyway. Farming for hundreds of gems still takes time. You don’t have to burn 2 high runes to make one, but it would still be costly to do the upgrade. But what if you could use 1 Jah and a large amount of gems (maybe hundreds) to upgrade to a Cham? I think it’s a recipe people would actually use, and it would make gems more desirable and at the same time, create some new cube recipes that people would actually use.
It is just not worth using 2 Jahs to make a cham, or 2 Bers to make a Jah. What if blizzard changes some of the rune upgrade recipes to incorporate more gems? From what I’ve gathered, and in my own experience, most people do not want to use the high rune upgrade recipes. The problem is there is no great desire for gems that makes them that valuable right now. The idea of a gem is that it is precious and valuable, and makes perfect sense for a trade currency. You might be thinking gold, but, to me, gems just seem to fit right in here. And given the recent patch notes, I feel they may be open to making changes that could facilitate this.
One that has real use and would create desire for it. So my thoughts are that blizzard needs to create some form of common currency in D2R. However, it does give unfair advantage to players that have used other games to acquire mass wealth and then bring that wealth to a new game and buy anything and everything they want. I’d say that is the appeal for most people that use it. The trading is so fast and easy, and having a currency really lets you know what each item you have is worth. I’d like to say that I don’t dislike JSP. This is just the begining of an idea, but I feel it has some potential.
